CEO, Volaris Group
After receiving a B. Sc. in Statistics and a B.Sc. in Mathematics from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Mark Miller began his career as a software developer. During those days, he co-founded Trapeze Group which focuses on providing software for the transit industry. What began as a start-up near Toronto, Canada, has now grown to be a market leading global provider of transportation software.
Since those early days, Mark still serves as Trapeze Group’s Global CEO as well as CEO of Volaris Group. Volaris acquires and strengthens mission critical vertical market software companies so that they are the leaders within their industry. Some of the industries Volaris operates in include: agri-food, communications, financial services, justice, marine, rental management, asset management, and people transportation. With over 30 companies in 29 countries, Volaris is a Canadian company that knows how to operate in all corners of the globe.
In addition, Mark is the COO at Constellation Software – Volaris Group’s parent company who holds more than 200 vertical market software companies.
Mark passionately cares about working with intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs to help them surround themselves with a team of people who will assist them with building innovative businesses that last forever. That’s why he has actively sat on boards of early stage companies to aid them in their growth. An example of an existing board is Medgate, an Occupational Health & Safety software company. At Volaris he puts a lot of focus on talent management and employee development and so he is investing 50% of his working time in talent reviews to look for the next generation of leaders in his organization. He is considered a mentor for the German Startups Association and is proud to be a part of Startup Camp Berlin.
